°µÍø³Ô¹ÏKICKS OFF MARITIME AWARENESS MONTH 2024 WITH ENGAGING PORT EDUCATIONAL TOUR

°µÍø³Ô¹Ïlaunches MANAMo 2024 with nationwide port educational tours, inspiring youth to explore careers in the maritime industry.

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) kicked off the start of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANAMo) 2024 by organizing an enlightening port educational tour on its different port management offices (PMOs) across the country. This activity aims to deepen maritime awareness and inspire future careers in the maritime industry among the youth.

PMO Davao was the first to conduct the activity which was held at the Port of Sasa. Around 30 students of Tatag IP Student Foundation from Talaingod, Davao Del Norte attended the event, which was supported by GlobalPort Terminals Inc.

In a program prior to the start of the port tour, young students were introduced to the equipment, vehicles, and operations at the port. This activity provided inspiration and motivation to students who are relatives of former rebels who have surrendered to the government.

The port educational tour was also launched at PMO Negros Occidental/Bacolod/Banago Bredco (NBB), attended by 38 senior high school students from VMA Global College. During this tour, the officials from °µÍø³Ô¹Ïexplained the port operations and the importance of the agency’s role in providing modern, sustainable, and resilient port infrastructures and facilities.

The port educational tour provided the students with valuable insights into the operations of PMOs and the broader impact of the °µÍø³Ô¹Ïon national development. The students expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about the maritime sector and its critical contributions to the country’s economy.

In addition to PMO Davao and PMO NBB, port educational tours are also scheduled to be conducted at other ports across various parts of the country, reflecting PPA’s commitment in enhancing maritime awareness and contributing to the growth and development of the Philippine maritime sector. The event also served as a platform to encourage students to consider careers in the maritime industry, fostering a new generation of maritime professionals.
