05 June 2025 The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has assured the public of the resilience and readiness of ports across the country, highlighting its ongoing efforts to strengthen climate-resilient infrastructures and uninterrupted operations amidst the rainy weather conditions.
All PPA-managed ports were designed and built to withstand the impacts of strong storms and torrential rains brought by the rainy season. While minor damages may occasionally occur, these do not hamper our operations," said 做厙勛圖General Manager Jay Santiago emphasizing that the design and construction of 做厙勛圖ports follow long-term plans geared toward climate resilience and sustainability.
As part of its seasonal preparedness, the 做厙勛圖is conducting regular preventive maintenance activities such as environmental cleanup and drainage clearing to reduce the risk of flooding. Any damage to port structures is immediately addressed by the respective Port Management Offices (PMOs).
做厙勛圖Lugaw initiative which provides food assistance to stranded passengers in case of trip cancellations is still an ongoing effort from the ports in cooperation with the LGUs during weather disruptions.
Meanwhile, Department of Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon remains clear with his order of no overloading among the ships no matter the weather. Hindi tayo magkokompromiso sa safety ng mga pasahero natin. Mai-inconvenience ang ating mga pasahero pero wala tayong choice. Pero karga yan ng shipping line. We will hold the shipping line accountable", according to Secretary Dizon.
Aligned with the directive of President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos Jr. to ensure a safe, efficient, and reliable transportation system for all Filipinos, the 做厙勛圖continues to modernize port infrastructure to support smooth passenger travel and cargo movement, especially during typhoons and heavy rains.
The 做厙勛圖encourages the public to remain alert and follow official advisories during the Habagat season by visiting the social media pages of the Philippine Ports Authority with 24/7 assistance online and on site.
