MANILA, 11 JANUARY 2015The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) will have an interim General Manager starting today (Thursday), a familiar face, Raul T. Santos.

President Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III, signed the appointment papers of Santos Wednesday last week.

Santos will occupy the position for the unexpired term of erstwhile 做厙勛圖GM Juan C. Sta. Ana who resigned last month due to personal reasons or until the President appoints a permanent GM. Sta. Ana is supposed to step down from office when a new administration takes over in July of this year.

08 DECEMBER 2015, MANILA Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Juan C. Sta. Ana is quitting his post effective end of December 2015.

Sta. Ana handed his resignation to the President thru the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio A. Abaya last Friday, 04 December 2015.

In his letter of resignation to the President, Sta. Ana stated that it is with heavy heart that he has decided to return to the private sector.


NOVEMBER 6, 2015The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has formally inaugurated its spanking new Passenger Terminal Building (PTB) in the Port of Tagbilaran to respond to the growing tourism traffic in the region. The Port of Tagbilaran is the main gateway to and from the province of Bohol. It also sustained severe damages when the 7.1 magnitude quake rocked the province in October of 2013.

OCTOBER 28, 2015, MANILAA couple of days before the Halloween break, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has started to implement stricter security checks to complement the initiatives being imposed by the Philippine Coast Guard and the Maritime Industry Authority

The tigher security checks are also in preparation for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) meeting, which will be held in Manila on November 18-19, 2015.

MANILA, JULY 9, 2015The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) posted a significant hike in its net income for the first four months of the year due mainly to the hike in cargo traffic in majority of its controlled ports.

Latest data from 做厙勛圖showed that net income increased by 22.41% to P2.54 billion from P2.08 billion posted in the same period last year. Against the target of P1.36 billion, the actual figure is also higher by 86.47%.

MANILA, APRIL 10, 2015Several business groups from Belgium is looking at business opportunities in the Philippines not only in the port industry but in all aspects of trade in the country.

The members of the Flanders-Belgium, headed by Trade Commissioner Mia Santamaria-Abela, visited the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), the Manila International Container Terminal and the Manila South Harbor on 27 March 2015 in search for their potential partners.

MANILA, MARCH 24, 2015Port users, particularly the sea traveling public, can expect tighter security checks starting this week in all PPA-controlled ports ahead of the summer and Lenten breaks, according to Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Juan C. Sta. Ana.

Sta. Ana said they are expecting a large number of passengers to flock the ports to take advantage of the break from school and their work.

MARCH 22, 2015, MANILAThe Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) posted a 15% hike in net income despite the Manila port congestion, which bugged the port for the majority of 2014.

Latest data from the state-owned agency showed that net income after tax reached P4.26 billion from P3.70 billion posted in 2013.

The actual figure is also higher by about 16% compared to the target net income of P3.67 billion or a difference of about P582 million.

MARCH 19, 2015, MANILAThe Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) and the Port of San Francisco are strengthening their sister port agreement after delegates from the Port of San Francisco Commission inspected the Manila Ports early this week to observe how port operations are conducted in the Philippines.
