07 JUNE 2018, MANILA— Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago witnessed the arrival of a pair of Neo-Panamax and a Post-Panamax quay cranes to be used at the country’s biggest container terminal, the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT).

The pair of cranes arrived Thursday.

“The new cranes will definitely boost the capability of the MICT and will definitely guarantee a congestion-free international container terminal,” Santiago said at the sidelines of the arrival ceremony held at Berth 6 of the MICT.

04 JUNE 2018, MANILA—Manila port operators International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) and Asian Terminals, Inc. (ATI) have donated at least a P20 million worth of safety and communication equipment to the Metro Manila Development Authority on Monday.

The pieces of equipment were donated to help the agency improve the traffic flow in the metro particularly container trucks plying the roads using the Terminal Appointment Booking System or TABS.

The donation was made possible through the intercession of the Philippine Port Authority.

21 MAY 2018, MANILA—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is accelerating its port infrastructure projects after port revenues posted strong figures in the first three months of the year.

18 MAY 2018, MANILA—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is empowering all its outsourced personnel to compete with other qualified applicants in all its entry level and technical positions this year.

The initiative is in preparation for the full implementation of a Joint Memorandum Order among three (3) government agencies namely: Civil Service Commission (CSC), Commission on Audit (COA) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), requiring all government agencies to restrict the need of hiring outsourced personnel at the start of 2019.

MANILA, 22 MARCH 2018—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has mobilized all its port security units 10 days before the Lenten Break to guarantee safe and convenient ports for the duration of the season.

�����Թ�General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago, said, just like the past years, port operations during this Lenten Break is expected to be busy and challenging.

“Emergency response teams and security personnel in all PPA-controlled ports have been mobilized to ensure smooth operations,” Santiago said.

13 MARCH 2018, MANILA—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is set to remit more than P3 billion in dividend, its highest contribution to the National coffers since 1986.

The state-owned agency’s dividend for 2017 also eclipsed by at least 30% all the dividends it remitted to the government at least in the last decade, including its erstwhile record of P2.158 billion remitted in 2015.

�����Թ�is mandated to remit 50% of its annual net income to the National Government after it was granted fiscal autonomy during the term of President Corazon C. Aquino.

5 MARCH 2018, MANILA—Philippine cruise ship arrivals posted unprecedented figures in the last 12 months capped by the simultaneous docking of cruise ships at the Manila’s South Harbor.

On Monday, the Manila South Harbor, managed and operated by Asian Terminals, Inc., registered the biggest number of cruise ships docked at the ports with four, namely, SuperStar Virgo of Star Cruises, Costa Atlantica of Costa Cruises, Amsterdam of Holland America Lines, and Silver Shadow of Silversea Cruises.

29 JANUARY 2018, MANILA—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) on Monday, unveiled its new logo in its bid to transform the agency into a more transparent, reliable and model corporate organization.

The new �����Թ�logo got the nod of the Office of the President through the National Historical Commission of the Philippines.

According to �����Թ�General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago, the new logo will embody the vision of the PPA, which is to provide port services of global standards encompassing the three major islands of the country.

19 JANUARY 2018, MANILA—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) posted a 16% hike in its net income in the January to November 2017 period despite starting the year on a conservative mood.

�����Թ�was able to achieve the feat through its sound financial condition and strong Philippine economic status despite having some concerns with the Philippine peso the entire year.

Latest data from the �����Թ�showed that net income for the period in review reached P8.310 billion or some 16% higher than the P7.164 billion posted a year earlier.
