14 APRIL 2020, MANILA—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is feeling the pinch of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic in all aspects of its operations.

This after PPA’s income for March plunges 79% from the registered P1.401 billion in the same period of last year to a meager P300.93 million this year, approximately 16 days after the imposition of the Community Quarantine in Luzon.

8 APRIL 2020, MANILA—With the fight against the Coronavirus Disease expected to drag a little further, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has installed decontamination and misting tents in all its ports and terminals nationwide as another safety measure in the battle against the dreaded disease.Ìý The facility initially aims to disinfect all individuals entering and exiting the port premises.

31 MARCH 2020, MANILA—Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago warned of a possible port shutdown if cargo owners and consignees continue to shun calls to withdraw cleared, ready for delivery and overstaying cargoes.

Santiago said that despite efforts to transfer cleared and overstaying containers from the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) to a facility inside the Manila North Harbor, there areÌýstill not enough breathing space for the Manila port terminals to operate efficiently and productively.

27 MARCH 2020, MANILA—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) is putting another safety and security layer in its bid to make Its ports COVID-19 free including the entire port community.

Starting Friday, the °µÍø³Ô¹Ïis imposing the accomplishment of an entry form for all persons transacting with the agency. The entry protocol aims to determine the movement of its employees and the transacting public in the last 7 days.

11 MARCH 2020, MANILA—In its bid to reduce the risk of transmission through ports, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) intensifies its measures against the deadly Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

On top of the usual thermal scanning of passengers and port personnel in all ports, the °µÍø³Ô¹Ïhas mandated all its Port Management Offices to make available to passengers, port users and other stakeholders necessary disinfecting supply such as anti-bacterial solutions and sanitizers.

24 FEBRUARY 2020, MANILA—For the second straight year, the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) scores big in the annual port user’s satisfaction survey particularly on the aspect of integrity.

The 2019 survey conducted by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) involving the various port users nationwide showed that respondents to the survey gave the highest satisfaction rating of 4.43, equivalent to Very Satisfied, to the integrity of the °µÍø³Ô¹Ïon top of its port facilities and services rendered.

19 FEBRUARY 2020, MANILA—The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) books its highest income in history, only 3 years into the term of President Rodrigo R. Duterte.

The 2019 °µÍø³Ô¹Ïnet income has almost doubled the income registered in the first full year of management and operations of the current administration in 2017.

°µÍø³Ô¹ÏGeneral Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago said that the strong financial performance of the °µÍø³Ô¹Ïis due to the various changes being implemented by the current administration led by no less than the President and the Secretary of Transportation.
